Rapasa Nyatrapasa Otieno

Director | Lead Music Workshop and Wellbeing Facilitator

Director and drive behind Nyatiti NyaDala, Rapasa is a fervent advocate of traditional East African music and culture. He brings his energy, knowledge and experience to promote wellbeing while sharing about culture and music from his home Western Kenya. He is a multidisciplinary artist with over 15 years experience. It encompasses amongst others, music and movement including contemporary dance and yoga which have been instrumental to the realisation of the potential these practices have on finding inner peace. He is currently an Intern Transformational BreathⓇ facilitator which he will be integrating to the work he does for Nyatiti NyaDala to expand the range of approach which can be used to assist people realise their true potential. For as long as he has been an artist he has also shared his knowledge and experience and learnt from the students attending his sessions. The student becomes the teacher. Each session is unique and important to him. Through the process of student and mentor exchange and challenges with repairing needs when on the move, he learnt instrument making with traditional makers in Kenya. Since 2017 Rapasa has been drawn to exploring alternative tools, resources and ways to fabricate traditional East African music instruments. 

Rapasa can provide DBS check certificate and holds a Red Cross First Aid at Work certificate.
